The Works of Richard Strauss

Operatic Works

1906-08 Elektra Op. 58

7th Horn, 1st F Wagner Tube

The player interchanges instruments throughout the opera in what
is basically a high horn part and a reasonably low Tube part. It is,
like all Strauss Operas quite taxing but less than many others.
Very pleasant to play and also rewarding. Some Tube writing is
very chromatic and in Bass Clef so needs looking at prior to performance.

Excerpt from typical German State Opera Orchestral part:

The above excerpt is in a quite fast 2 beats per measure and is normally
performed in a very forceful and heavy manner. It is important to watch
the intonation with Tube colleagues in such situations as this can get
easily out of hand. This is just an example, if you have comments about
download times and any other concerns please
