Dear Visitor,

After a small amount of research we received close to 120 written opinions (from the near to 700 visitors to the site in the first week expressing wishes and expectations!

Thank-you!

Eventually we hope to accommodate all of these wishes, as they were all very reasonable.

This site will initially be a place for the collection of "serious" data about Richard Strauss. Many have studied Strauss, his music and associated subjects. This information is now scattered worldwide and there seems to be no central method of collating the information that can be made available to other students and other interested parties.

www.richard-strauss.com is therefore important as a central switchboard for the automatic direction of material and enquiries to correctly collated destinations.

This will take some time to develop. There are strategic alliances (non-commercial and commercial) which are in
negotiation and these are very important to the success of this resource.

If you don't wish to keep visiting and experiencing that not much seems to be going on here, please leave us a message with your main areas of interest and you will
be informed by email about additions as soon as they become substantial.

The structure of the site is the first aspect being planned. Some very friendly academically qualified people have offered to contribute information and we are awaiting the opening of the Richard Strauss Institute here in Garmisch which gives us an excellent source of reference a mere 500Metres from here.

Those who are adopted as "knowing their stuff" will, as material becomes available, evaluate and decide where it should be placed on the site to best advantage.

MOST IMPORTANTLY there will be areas for information about the PERFORMANCE of the works of Richard Strauss.
There is much information scattered worldwide about different versions of works, opera cuts, phrasing and markings from the composer and interpreters that
will have a home for reference here.

Also for orchestral musicians a reference about playing techniques. This will hopefully grow to cover all aspects of performing all of the works from the Operas through the Symphonic Poems.

A Diary should be in place for Strauss performances and submissions for this are welcome.

We are inviting several well-known interpreters of the Lieder, (both singers and accompanists) to contribute
their comments about vocal work performance and interpretation.

There will also be a section on copyright issues, what will be in the public domain when and where.
Here will be information on how to get permission to use copyrighted materials and whom to ask. Boosey & Hawkes have been very supportive as publishers of a great deal of Straus works here in Europe. We are banking on a continued co-operation.

Also eventually discussion areas and bulletin boards, a discography with links to CD and video suppliers (if
they behave themselves) as well as general information for anyone interested in the man Richard Strauss himself.

Please join the mailing list by just dropping us an email and also let us know what you think, need, want, expect and so on.

Kindest regards,

Anthony G Morris
